Tweaked Emergency Idea!

My badge with the list inside!

Wow!  My last several blog posts have been un-teachery!  I need to get back to the teacher stuff!  ðŸ™‚

As with all teachers I am always looking for new ways to make my life easier!
Funny, but there are some aspects to teaching that I never really took to much time to think about.  I just did them like everyone else!  Then, Pinterest came along and changed all of that.  I have learned so many great ideas through Pinterest and teacher blogs that I can’t keep up with it all!
Anyway, one of the things that I found that I thought was BRILLIANT was someone pinned the idea that they put their kiddos names on the back of her school badge (you know those lovely things that some schools are having teachers wear for security reasons?)
Anyway, instead of just putting my kiddos names on the back of my badge, I printed a small list of all of kiddos emergency information and put that inside the plastic holder!  We use a system called RDS which keeps all of our student information in one place so we can easily call up a roster to print. I have my student’s names, parent’s names,  phone numbers, addresses and bus information all in one place!   Mine is a little bigger than half a page, but olds up nice and small to fit in my badge holder.  It conveniently covers up my terrible school picture! Now, I have my kiddos emergency information on me at all times.  Of course, if you can’t cover up your picture you can always slip it in the back.   This works out really well for fire, weather and lock down drills because I am wearing my list, I don’t need to remember to grab it!
I also put my keys on it so I would always have them close at hand.  Of course, that means I have to remember 2 sets of keys, but it makes me feel better that I know where my classroom door key is at all times!  Woo-hoo!
